Kelsi’s Portfolio

Hi, I’m Kelsi 👋

Storytelling is etched in my DNA. As a writer since age eight and amateur magazine producer for nearly a decade, I’ve always been drawn to rich narratives and clean design.

Since 2015, my writing career has spanned startups, creative agencies, and leading tech companies.

Sitting at the intersection of content, marketing, and strategy, I help businesses express themselves in ways that bolster their brand and capture their audience.

From direct mail to website landing pages and apps, I compose crisp, potent copy to drive sales, shape social media content, and influence email marketing and paid ad campaigns.

Product Launch Video

My contributions to this video:
Concept brainstorming • On-set brand review •
Post-production review

My first time on set with SUSE! I was responsible for ensuring the shots and script aligned with our brand and tone. The production agency was so talented and professional, and this experience reminded me of what I loved about being on set!

This video increased customer contacts for the Cloud Elevate Team by over 100% and resulted in at least 7 new contacts in the first month.

Company Music Video

My contributions to this video:
Lyrics ideation • Shot list assistance • Producer on set • Post-production oversight • Captions

I jumped in to help with the reshooting of this video. The short turnaround time meant we spent late nights perfecting the shot list, talent roster, and filming schedule. The final product was fun, lighthearted, and unlike any other SUSE parody.

Music video parodies have been part of the SUSE culture since the company’s beginning in the early ‘90s. This approach was more produced and polished than any other video prior.

Company Portfolio Video

My contributions to this video:
Copy/script review • Brand cohesion •
Motion design feedback

As the default video on SUSE’s website and YouTube, this video is likely our audience’s first view of the SUSE brand.

It required flawless text overlays and a tone that accurately captured who we are and the solutions we provide.

I reviewed text accuracy, motion graphics timings, and even sound design.

Marketing & Social Media Copy

SUSE attends hundreds of conferences each year, and it’s crucial that the company shows up consistently each and every time.

As the Brand Writer, I provided meticulous copy reviews and attended group feedback calls to ensure our brand voice was accurately reflected and customer needs were the focus.

  • Social posts for events to drive attendance and engagement (static & motion)

  • Paid ads to promote high-impact campaigns and showcase IT solutions

  • Booth messaging to clearly explain SUSE’s complex IT solutions

  • Social posts for campaign collateral to boost traffic on critical assets like white papers, infographics, and webinars

  • On-site marketing including billboards and buses to amplify brand awareness

  • Company content to support initiatives like ESG and employee wellness

Project objective: Refresh the company “About Us’ page, one of the most high-traffic sites on our website.

Reason for project: With new leadership and robust branding initiative, the “About Us” page was selected as the top priority update in Q1 of FY2024.

Issues to address/resolve:

  • Text-heavy and did not follow style guidelines

  • Featured product info rather than company info

  • Missing a leadership section

  • Irrelevant milestones in the company history overview

  • Outdated and overly complicated section where visitors were expected to click on tiny icons to learn about the company from employees (many of whom were no longer with the company)

My contributions: In close collaboration with UX designers, web team, Corporate Communications team, and the Global Head of Brand, I successfully advocated for:

  • Less (but more relevant) copy that followed our style guide

  • Clearer calls to action

  • Simpler headings and page flow

  • Bullet points instead of text blocks

  • A more visible company history

  • Accessibility standards (for the color combinations used)

Outcome: Together we delivered a more relevant and on-brand webpage to give customers a positive experience that also aligned with the company’s business priorities.

Web Copy & UX Writing

Style Guide Creation & Management

My role as Brand Writer was to empower everyone who wrote on behalf of the company to write using one, unified voice.

My priority was to uphold writing consistency and reinforce the company's tone so we appear professional and trustworthy to our audience.

How I did this:

  • Maintain comprehensive writing guides using Microsoft Word and Google Docs

  • Proactively partner with colleagues across the company on over 200 high-profile projects, from graphic and web designers to campaign managers and product marketing leads

  • Advocate for adding style/copy reviews to project workflows

  • Participate in project kick-off calls to align on messaging

  • Meticulously proofread high-impact customer materials

  • Be approachable and available to answer copy-related questions

  • Enable self-service by ensuring writing resources are accessible on the company brand site and internally used platforms including BrandFolder, Writer, TermWeb, and SUSE Intranet
